Mark Hughes is adamant he deserves to remain in charge of Manchester City.

He said: "I believe that for what we want to do this club has the best people in place right now - and that includes me.

"And there is no doubt in my mind that I will get the time and the opportunity. The relationship I have with chief executive Garry Cook and the chairman is very strong.

"It would be wrong to cherry-pick another manager who just happens to be out of work and has a bigger name."
