Tom Huddlestone says Tottenham showed a new maturity last season.
Spurs midfielder Huddlestone believes this Tottenham side have achieved the right balance between pragmatism and creativity.
He said: "If teams come to White Hart Lane and try to play football, like Chelsea did, then we can match them for football, but there have been a few times when Tottenham did win ugly.
"You have to remember the Tottenham philosophy of good players playing the game in the so-called right way.
"Maybe in previous years that approach has been a millstone round our necks. We have overplayed things at times, but last season we seemed to get the balance right. Maybe that was because we had Peter Crouch to use as a different option.
"There were games last season that we lost where we could have picked up at least eight or more points. If we can win those kind of games this season then it will be another fantastic year."
