Huddersfield excited by potential of grandson of Welsh legend John Charles

Huddersfield may boast the future of Welsh football.

Jack Charles, just 14, is set to make his Wales U17 debut next week.

The 14-year-old Huddersfield Town academy prospect has been fast-tracked through his country's junior ranks and will have plenty to live up to on his debut against Sweden

It isn't only his rapid progress which has sparked interest as Jack is the grandson of Leeds United, Juventus and Wales legend John Charles.

"It is a big ask for a kid of 14 to face up to 17-year-olds, but this is a fantastic opportunity for Jake, and we are all really proud of him," said Huddersfield boss Lee Clark.

"He's still growing, and though he is a big lad in his own age group, he's not going to look it alongside the Swedish boys.

"But he does seem able to take things in his stride. His grandad was one of the top players of his generation, and he seems to have picked up some of his attributes."
