Simon Grayson said Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle's vision for the League One club was a key factor in his decision to step forward for the job. Grayson was sacked by Leeds on February 1 but was installed as Lee Clark's successor at the Galpharm Stadium just three weeks later.

When asked about his new boss, Grayson said: "I've been immensely impressed. That's one of the reasons why I came to the club because I had no intention to come back into football so quickly.

"I was going to have a rest, but he certainly inspired me to go back on that because of his outlook, not just for this season but the whole plan.

"You don't get given a three-and-a-half year contract if the club hasn't got a vision of what they want to do. I feel we will work very closely together.

"Looking from the outside over the last couple of years you can see how much influence he's had on the club and with Lee (Clark), he's backed him with the squad that we've got. He was a massive factor in why I came here as well as what I think I can achieve for the club."
