Huddersfield boss happy to see Rhodes gain confidence from Prem speculation

Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark believes Premier League speculation is spurring promising striker Jordan Rhodes on.

A host of top flight clubs as well as some in Scotland are showing interest in the 21-year old English-born Scotland international and Clark believes it is subconsciously forcing him to perform better.

Rhodes has 20 League One goals for the Terriers so far this season but Clark says the seven he has scored in his past four have been motivated by a potential future move to the Premier League.

"I don't know if he has taken any notice of it, but he is getting better and better with each game. His overall game has been superb, not just the goals, his hold-up play, his movement," Clark told Sky Sports News.

"If he is seeing the speculation, he probably is as it's in the media, I think it's given him a boost and why not?

"As a young player, when you see these clubs from the Premier League who have got top-quality managers being interested in you and talking about figures into the millions, it can only give you confidence and Jordan is using it in the right way and we are benefiting as a team.

"Keep it going, I say. Keep it going every day.

"I know, Jordan knows, the owner knows and everyone inside the football club knows that come February 1st he will be our player.

"If we are getting the benefits because he is full of confidence, then all well and good."
