Huddersfield battling to keep hold of Man Utd, Celtic target Rhodes

Huddersfield face a battle to keep hold of Jordan Rhodes.

Speculation of a big-money move away from Huddersfield has increased after Paul Scholes was spotted in the stands in October, apparently sizing Rhodes up for Manchester United.

Neil Lennon, the Celtic manager, has also been to watch Rhodes this season, says the Daily Star.

Manager Lee Clark insisted his star player will be staying at Huddersfield following talks with the club's owner Dean Hoyle.

He said: "The chairman is not short of a bob or two and will not sell Jordan Rhodes. And the lad does not want to go.

"We spoke about that a few weeks ago because we know he's hot property and we know that in January the calls will come. Clubs will try and test our resolve, but promotion is more important than pounds."

Despite his manager's comments, Rhodes refused to commit himself to the club.

He said: "All I want to do is focus on one thing at a time and, right now, that's the next training session. I'm not thinking about whatever happens around that.

"I've not spoken to the manager about it. I'm just looking to improve as a player, other people can talk and speculate."
