Steve Howey has urged Newcastle United to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin.
Newcastle United recently concluded the signing of Serbian wonderkid Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht and despite the arrival of the young star, the Magpies are still said to be courting another striker.
It has been widely claimed that Newcastle United are now focusing their attention to signing QPR star Charlie Austin and Steve Howey has urged his former side to go all out for the 25-year old.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Howey said: "Mitrovic could be a good signing, his stats say he scored something like 16 in 32 games [for his club last season]. He's a good player and Steve [McClaren] obviously knows what he's about.
"But if I was in charge, I would go all out for Austin. He's a fantastic goalscorer, he scored goals last season in a side that struggled and the crowd [at Newcastle] would love him. I know Alan Shearer has been in touch and said he should sign and I would go all out to try to get someone like him."
