Former Newcastle United defender Steve Howey says confusion reigns over manager Chris Hughton's search for a new No2.
There seems to be a power struggle behind the scenes, with Hughton keen to recruit from outside the club but owner Mike Ashley wanting to promote from within.
The problem is, stand-in assistant Steve Stone is himself new to coaching.
Howey told the Evening Chronicle: "Chris seems reasonably comfortable with the situation.
"I would imagine he has someone in mind.
"Now it depends on Mike Ashley: Is he going to go with what Chris says? You just don't know."
