Former AFC Bournemouth manager Harry Redknapp believes Eddie Howe has cultivated the best team in the club's history.

The Cherries have essentially gained promotion to the Premier League by all but securing a top-two spot in the Championship with one fixture remaining.

Redknapp managed Bournemouth between 1983 and 1992, winning the Division Three title in 1987 and Football League trophy in 1984, but feels this is the best group of players ever assembled in Boscombe.

"I'm very happy," Redknapp said on Sky Sports.

"Everybody has played a great part, the owner has put the money in, the chairman, the chief exec... Eddie has done an amazing job. A fantastic manager.

"This is the best team in the history of Bournemouth."
