Howard hands Everton injury scare

Tim Howard has handed Everton an injury scare after dislocating a finger while on international duty with the USA.

Howard picked up the injury just before the hour mark of the USA's 4-2 defeat to Brazil on Sunday in Chicago, though he did finish the game.

Speaking after the game he admitted the injury was causing him discomfort and he will have it assessed this week to see if he will fit for Everton's clash with his former employers Manchester United this weekend.

He told the club's official website: "It was pretty sore. I just tried to play through it, and hoped that the adrenaline would get me through it.

"It's swollen like a balloon and I'm hoping that the flight doesn't take too much out of it. I'll see the doctors when I get back."
