Howard: Everton want top four finish

Tim Howard says Everton will be aiming to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

David Moyes' side faltered in the closing weeks of the season and will have to be content with another Uefa Cup adventure.

American keeper Howard, though, insists the only way is up at Goodison Park and is looking forward to the challenge of trying to make it into the Champions League.

"We have the team, we have the squad and if we keep building on that we have the quality," Howard told Sky Sports News.

"We were right there, but we spluttered towards the end, as you saw, which kind of solidified fifth for us and knocked us out of the race for fourth.

"If we can do that next year, and we have more depth, I think we will be all right and we can challenge.

"If we finish fifth the only place is to go up. Fourth is the next logical step. I can imagine that when we all get together in July that's going to be our aim.

"The manager is ambitious and he's hungry, and he was desperately disappointed that we missed out this year on it.

"I'm sure we'll be champing at the bit to do it next year."
