Howard convinced Everton can rebound from Liverpool loss

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is confident the Toffees can bounce back from last weekend's Merseyside derby loss to Liverpool.

The 2-0 home defeat was the clubs second loss in two outings following the unsuccessful trip to Manchester City the week prior and USA international Howard says it is vital to come out with a positive attitude when they travel to Chelsea on October 15.

"We have to think about picking ourselves up and asking, 'Can we get back up the ladder with the run of games we have?'" said Howard as Everton get ready for Chelsea, Fulham, Manchester United and Newcastle United in their next four outings.

"But because we've dropped the points in the derby, it's kind of hard to take, we have to go away and lick our wounds - which is tough under the circumstances of that decision to dismiss Jack (Rodwell).

"But we have to ensure our spirit will see us through this. We have been in great spirits, training has been really good - positive and spirited - so we need to feed on that.

"We need to keep it up, because we are in a really tough stretch of games. But we have been prepared for that, and we have to use that spirit to keep the performances high.

"If we can keep the players on the field, we should be up there!"
