Real Madrid will go top of the table today with victory over Granada.
Real Madrid have been playing catch up with defending champions Barcelona, and now neighbours Atletico Madrid.
But Madrid moved just one point off the top last weekend when they beat Real Betis 5-0 while Barca and Atletico could only draw in their respective fixtures against Levante and Sevilla.
This weekend Real take on Granada on Saturday afternoon, more than 24 hours before Barca face Malaga and Diego Simeone's team travel to Rayo Vallecano.
"We have to take advantage of this moment and win to put a bit of pressure on those above us," Real fullback Alvaro Arbeloa said in AS.
"We are on a great run, we have cut the gap to the top bit by bit.
"We have hit form at the most important time of the season."
