Houston Dynamos' Waibel proud to come home despite loss

Seattle-born Houston Dynamos defender Craig Waibel was proud to be playing MLS football in his home town, even if he was playing for the enemy.

The 33-year old enjoyed being back at Qwest Field despite the Dynamos losing 2-1 to the Seattle Sounders, who he began his professional career with back in the late-1990s.

At that time, the Sounders were in the A-League (first division), and Waibel said it was great to now see them competing so well in MLS.

"We were begging for an MLS franchise when I was here," he said.

"I would have been one of the 32,000 (in attendance) today. It's a proud day for me to come back and see the team I started my professional career with excel at this level and compete so well in the first year.

"I just wish they didn't compete as well as they did today."
