Houston Dynamo sign Brian Ownby and Warren Creavalle

Houston Dynamo have signed midfielder Brian Ownby and defender Warren Creavalle.

Per team and league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Creavalle, 21, was selected by Houston in the second round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft (37th overall) out of the University of Central Florida. The 6-foot defender mostly played as a midfielder in college, earning All-Conference USA first team honors in 2010 and 2011, but played right back for the Dynamo throughout the preseason. The Acworth, Ga. native made six starts and 11 appearances for Houston this preseason.

"Warren has shown good versatility, good attitude and strong play," said Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear. "He has defended well, attacked well and overall had a positive preseason."

Ownby was the Dynamo's first selection in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. The 21-year-old played four seasons at the University of Virginia and was named first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2010. Ownby, from Glen Allen, Va., scored three goals in 11 appearances for the Dynamo in the preseason.

"Brian has good pace and in the open field can run with people and take opponents on," Kinnear said. "He impressed us in preseason and we hope he will continue to improve and get better."
