Houston Dynamo's Davis eager to take USA chance

Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis is determined to make the most of his next opportunity with the USA national team.

The 31-year old has made five appearances for the US, with his last coming in February 2010, and he sees this Tuesday's friendly with Canada at the Dynamo's home ground BBVA Compass Stadium as a great chance to force his way back into the squad.

"I just look at it honestly as an opportunity," Davis said.

"I've really tried to push myself the past four or five years to get better and make this next step. Now it's my job to go out and make the most of it."

He added: "To be honest, I didn't know (if I would get another chance).

"I kind of worried about that maybe a year ago. The longer it didn't come, I just tried to put it on the back-burner a little bit and just focus on my club team, not worry about if the call is going to come, when the call is going to come, why I wasn't getting called in.

"If I took care of my business with my club, we had success, then maybe the shot would come. But I didn't want to sit there and worry any more about whether it was going to come. I just [wanted] to go do what I could do and do my best at it."
