Houston Dynamo midfielder Cameron set for surgery

Houston Dynamo midfielder Geoff Cameron is set for surgery later this week to repair his ruptured posterior cruciate ligament.

The 24-year old sustained the injury in the 2-0 away loss to Chicago Fire on the weekend and will now miss the remainder of the season.

Dynamo chief operating officer Chris Canetti confirmed that Cameron would have the operation this week and revealed that the player was very emotional.

"He's out for the season," Canetti said. "He ruptured his PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) in his right knee. He's going to undergo surgery this week, and he'll be out for the rest of the season. Surgery will be at the Methodist Hospital.

"I understand that he's pretty emotional right now. He's pretty down. I haven't spoken to him.

"He's real down," Canetti added. "This is a big year. He was looking forward to doing big things this year. Sorry for him to have to go through this and the surgery and all the rehab that goes into it."
