Brian Ching has been appointed as the managing director of new NWSL side Houston Dash.
The 35-year old, who called his retirement from the Houston Dynamo at the end of the 2013 MLS season, will work closely with Dynamo and Dash president Chris Canetti in putting together the inaugural squad of Houston's women's team.
"I'm excited about it," Ching told the Houston Chronicle. "When I stopped playing, I didn't think that I would be this excited about being in the front office.
"I think it's a great opportunity for us to grow the Dynamo brand and make the Dash just as successful as the Dynamo both on and off the field.
"We've been talking to coaches, trying to get it sorted out. We have an expansion draft and the college draft coming up really quickly. Obviously it's going to be a steep learning curve for me.
"Obviously I have Chris to lean on, and I'm going to use the skills that made me a successful player to try to become successful in building the Dash."
