Houston Dynamo eyeing Bolton friendly

Houston Dynamo are looking at the prospect of bringing English Premier League club Bolton Wanderers to town for a friendly.

Bolton is the home of former Dynamo star Stuart Holden and the Houston hierarchy are reportedly close to completing a deal to bring the Greater Manchester club to Texas in July.

Dynamo striker Brian Ching said it would be a great thing if Holden was to come back home and take on his former teammates whilst head coach Dom Kinnear said it was about time the club stepped into the European market.

"It'd be fun," Ching told the Houston Chronicle. "It's a great story. I think the happiest guy about it would be Stu. It'd be fun to be able to see him, and it would be a great game."

Kinnear added: "We've played a lot of teams from Mexico. I think the fans have craved teams from Europe."

The match would be played at Houston's Robertson Stadium and Dynamo president Chris Canetti hoped the game could be finalised to accommodate for one of the clubs' greatest-ever players.

"He's (Holden) from Houston and is a great player who did great things in the community," Canetti said. "And he came up through our system. More important is what he means to the fans. He was a beloved person in Houston."
