West Bromwich Albio ace Jake Livermore has admitted that he had given up hope of ever earning a recall to England national team.
The 27-year-old, who made his only appearance for the Three Lions back in 2012, was handed a recall by manager Gareth Southgate for the upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania.
"I thought England was gone for me," he said.
"But the manager seems to pick players on current form. I'm thankful for that. Hopefully I can do myself, the people who helped me and my country proud.
"I just wanted to get back into club football and put a positive spin on my career for those who stuck by me – the FA being among them.
"Having this opportunity to repay them is great."
