Hong Kong's South China to face LA Galaxy

The match will be LA Galaxy's third and final game in their Asian Tour where they are slated to play K-League side FC Seoul on Saturday and Shanghai-Hong Kong United in China on Wednesday.

The friendly was initially announced on Tuesday but the HKFA rejected the Galaxy's claims - insisting they have not given LA Galaxy approval to stage a friendly game in the former British colony.

That prompted the Galaxy management to send a formal request to the HKFA. The Association have scheduled Hong Kong champions South China to play the MLS club after they received an official application from the club.

South China have previously played in the BPL Asia Trophy against Premiership sides Liverpool, Portsmouth and Fulham. The club has also completed a domestic treble in the Hong Kong league last season.

A statement on the Association's official website said: "The match between Hong Kong SCAA Invitation Team and LA Galaxy will be held on 9th March at Hong Kong Stadium at 3pm. The details of the ticket sale will be announced later."
