Hong to assemble South Korea squad next week

Hong Myung-bo will assemble most of his 23-man Korea Republic in Seoul on Monday.

The Chosun Ilbo reports that a majority of the Taeguk Warriors players selected by Hong will report for duty next week with some European-based players set to link up with the squad at a later date.

South Korea will train at home leading up to the May 28 friendly with Tunisia at the Seoul World Cup Stadium before heading to Miami, USA on May 30.

They will then come up against fellow World Cup qualifiers Ghana in Florida on June 10 before they set off for their training base in Foz do Iguacu the next day.

Hong said: "From May 21, when all players who are currently nursing injuries can join training, we will start on tactics."

South Korea kickstart their Group H campaign against Russia in Cuiaba on June 17 before meeting Algeria in Porto Alegre on June 22 and Belgium in Sao Paulo on June 26.
