Homeless World Cup 2016: Australia lose opening game

Australia lost their opening game of Group C at the Homeless World Cup in Glasgow, losing 7-3 to Germany.

Germany are ranked 34th and proved too strong for the 45th placed Aussies.

The Australian team was selected from hundreds of participants in the Community Street Soccer Program – a national grassroots initiative that uses soccer to help participants reconnect with their community and make positive changes in their lives.

The eight players selected to represent Germany are from the teams that participate in the German Homeless Cup.
