Liverpool stopper Jose Reina believes success will come with winning every home game and overcoming defensive visitors. Reina said: "The win over Portsmouth was a hugely important three points for us because we have to keep on winning.
"Once you are at the top of the table you have to do everything you can to defend that position and that means winning every game you can.
"We cannot afford to drop any points at home. It is important we keep winning at home and also be consistent away.
"To mount a title challenge you have to be able to win games in every way. You have to be able to come from behind, and also win when in front."
He added: "This season we have got ourselves into a perfect position, but there is still a lot of football to be played.
"But we are taking little steps in the right direction all the time and we believe we are going to win every time we go onto the field.
"We can only go step by step and the next game for us is at Tottenham on Saturday, which is going to be tough.
"They had a great result against Arsenal this week, so we know it will be difficult.
