Lewis Holtby has taken the No23 shirt at Tottenham in tribute to David Beckham.

The 22-year-old trained with his team-mates for the first time on Tuesday and afterwards manager Andre Villas-Boas confirmed he would go straight into the squad for the trip to Norwich City in the Barclays Premier League.

Holtby will wear the No 23 shirt at Spurs, the number worn by his idol Beckham at Real Madrid and LA Galaxy.

The Germany midfielder had flown to London on Monday after Tottenham finally agreed a deal to sign him now, rather than at the end of the season.
