Holloway unimpressed with new parachute payments plan

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has blasted new plans to help clubs relegated from the top flight.

Holloway believes it means too many clubs will have huge and undeserved budgets and will stop clubs like his from ever getting a proper shot at promotion themselves.

"With the new rules, I would like to say it's madness," said Holloway. "Why reward those people over the next four years?"

He added: "You might as well blow our left foot off and our right foot off. I mean, what's going on? Talk about unfairness."

The Premier League proposed last week that relegated sides should get parachute payments over four years rather than two years to help them readjust to life in the Championship.
