Holloway: Stoke boss Pulis proof experience counts

Ian Holloway says Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has been the great revelation in this season's Premiership.

The former QPR, Plymouth and Leicester boss told the Sunday Mirror: "I just hope that what he's done will inspire other clubs to think they don't need to look at all these so called top names from Europe when they are making appointments.

"There are plenty of good managers who have done their time and got to understand their jobs here.

"The experience of working at smaller clubs keeps you real. It's a total grounding of getting honest players to do an honest day's work. There's nobody's better than Tony at it.

"When I took over from him Plymouth after he'd gone to Stoke it was easy because he'd got rid of all the fancy dans who don't earn their money.

"I've known him for years and what you see is what you get, and players like that. He's been through all the ups and downs of building a team then having to sell players, of getting an honest group to do a hard day's work.

"And he knows it's then about getting them out on the training ground and drilling in to them the discipline to do their jobs right."
