Millwall boss Ian Holloway has praised the way chairman John Berylson for allowing him to make major changes at the club. Holloway, who left Blackpool because the boundaries were fudged and Crystal Palace when he had no back-up staff to implement his plans, wants to stay at Millwall a long time to implement his vision.
Holloway explained: "He is a clever man. He takes over businesses that are not doing very well and improves them. He is in for the long haul. I hope he can stay in fine fettle after his knee operation because the last thing we would want is for him to have to give it up.
"We understand each other. I think he agrees with me, even down to when a player might be ready to leave us.
"I like him and he likes me. He has helped make sure that there is no doubt about who is in charge. That means that I can have an effect on every single part of the club.
"There is no indecision. If the manager can't pick the team, he does not have the authority to do what he wants.
"Here, the players have to do what I say, because they know I am the boss.
"If the chairman picks the team, as happens at some clubs, anyone who doesn't get to play has got an excuse to cause disruption."
