Holloway delighted five team still below Blackpool

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway says it is great for football that his side is still a chance of remaining in the top flight this season.

Holloway admits the Seasiders should probably be propping up the rest of the teams in the Premier League but is delighted that there are a handful of clubs still sitting under them on the table.

"I am delighted there are people below us," said Holloway. "We could have been crashed and burned by now if I'd listened to everyone else, saying we were only going to get 10 points.

"We have 32 and that would have kept us up last season - you have to take stock from something.

"I don't look at people catching us - they haven't caught us, they are still below us.

"Should we be above anyone, on paper, at this level? I don't think so."

And Holloway said that there is far too much talk about his side and relegation when they are only a win away from mid-table.

"Where would three more points take us? We would go in the top half of the table," he added.

"All this doom and gloom - one win and we would be back up there. Who would have expected that? Who would have given us 32 points by now?"

Blackpool, currently 15th on the table, meet 14th-placed Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park this Saturday.
