Holland wait on injury news for Swansea’s de Guzman

Holland national team boss Louis van Gaal will wait to see how Jonathan de Guzman pulls up before making a further judgement call on his fitness.

Holland national team boss Louis van Gaal will wait to see how Jonathan de Guzman pulls up before making a further judgement call on his fitness.

The Swansea City midfielder, who is on loan from Villarreal, sustained a hamstring injury at training ahead of the Oranje’s friendly with Wales on Wednesday.

De Guzman is in doubt for the fixture but van Gaal has indicated that he will be given every chance to prove himself as the Dutch continue to ramp up their preparations for the World Cup.

"Today he felt something in his hamstrings and therefore I stopped the training session, as we were playing 11 v 11,” said van Gaal.

"Now we have to wait and see in the coming days whether it is bad or not so bad. Hopefully it's a light injury.

"We will wait a couple of days and then we will be able to say what it is."

Van Gaal added: "De Guzman has earned his position in the team. He had a rather good game against Ghana. I liked him. I said it to him.

"So now I have to adapt and play another player in his position (against Wales) which is always not so good."
