James Holland is not getting downcast despite Austria Vienna's poor beginning to the season.
The Austrian Bundesliga champions find themselves sitting in fourth position on the table this term, 11 points off leaders Red Bull Salzburg, after 19 matches.
The Violets have also had a tough run in the UEFA Champions League with just two draws from five Group G outings ahead of Wednesday night's home clash with Zenit St Petersburg.
Progression to the Europa League via a third-placed finish is unlikely but Holland spoke positively of Vienna's less than desired form at this point of the campaign.
"It's been a bit up and down," Holland told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"The Champions League has been a fantastic experience. We've been a little bit inconsistent. My form's been a little bit inconsistent but of late I've been performing a little bit better.
"Coming off the season we had last season, obviously we've got that expectation which makes it all the more harder. But it's exciting. It's been good."
He added: "(But) it's been frustrating.
"Obviously when you play in your competition you can dominate it but in the Champions League it's the complete opposite. At the same time we've competed in and done quite well in a few of the games.
"We were unlucky not to get a result in a few of the games. All in all it's been a fantastic experience."
