Tough-tackling Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has been called up to the Holland national squad for the first time since he was criticised by coach Bert van Marwijk.
The 26-year old has not been considered by the Oranje since his horror challenge on Newcastle United's Hatem Ben Arfa which left the French winger with a broken leg back in October.
But now van Marwijk feels de Jong has paid his penance and is looking to bring him back for a friendly with Austria in February.
"We have had a good talk about the situation. Nigel will be back for the game with Austria in February," he said.
de Jong has started 21 times for City this season but was dropped from the Dutch team for the October Euro2012 qualifiers with Moldova and Sweden.
