Holding, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Akpom score as Arsenal cruise past Chivas in California

The Gunners backed up their 2-1 victory over the MLS All-Stars late last week by controlling proceedings at the StubHub Center in Carson, California against the Mexican outfit.

Holding, who joined Arsenal from Bolton just over a week ago, made it 1-0 late in the first half when he was on hand to convert a knock-back from Calum Chambers after a free-kick.

A superb individual goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain early in the second half double Arsenal's lead before Chuba Akpom, who had scored the winner in San Jose on Thursday, made it 3-0 when diverting home Mathieu Debuchy's cut-back pass.

Chivas pulled one back through Angel Zaldivar from the penalty spot but the damaged already been done as Arsene Wenger's side produced a comfortable victory on the west coast of the US.

Wenger started with David Ospina in goals behind a defence consisting of Hector Bellerin, Holding, Chambers and Nacho Monreal, with Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin in holding midfield roles, Alex Iwobi, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla more advanced and Theo Walcott up front.

Debuchy, Krystian Bielik, Kieran Gibbs, Mohamed Elneny, Joel Campbell and Akpom replaced Bellerin, Chambers, Monreal, Xhaka, Cazorla, Theo at half-time while Gedion Zelalem, Chris Willock, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Emiliano Martinez all came on during the second half.
