Carlisle boss Greg Abbott was disappointed after his nine-man holders went out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the first hurdle with a 3-2 defeat at Accrington. United, who had Peter Murphy and James Berrett sent off, have reached Wembley for the last two years but lost to a last-ditch Andy Procter goal at the Crown Ground.
Abbott said: "I'm disappointed with the way we've gone out as we do not like losing any game. But this has gone for this year.
"We've had our times in the last couple of years and now we have to concentrate on the league and FA Cup, it's all we have got.
"I'm disappointed it took us to going down to 10 men to actually start playing. With 10 men we showed spirit, tenacity and determination we hadn't shown in the last few games.
"When we went 2-1 up, if we had stayed with 10, we would have won the game but with nine you are in trouble."
