USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann says Stuart Holden expects to be back in full training sometime in October.
The 27-year old Bolton Wanderers midfielder has been sidelined for almost the entire last 18 months with knee problems but is on the road to recovery and could be back in action this year.
"I spoke to Stuart a couple of weeks ago. He told me he hopes to be back in training in October," Klinsmann told ESPN.
"We always stay connected - he's such a good kid, and we all just hope he's back on track because he gives everything he has to the program."
