Daniel Williams made his USA national team debut on the weekend and after the match he was extremely delighted to take his bow.
The 22-year old German-born TSG Hoffenheim midfielder played 65 minutes as the US defeated Honduras 1-0 in Miami and admits he had to pinch himself during the national anthem.
"It was a great feeling. I had goose bumps because when the national anthem was playing, I felt like 'Oh, wow, this is my first time with the U.S. National Team' and I really enjoyed it," he said.
As for playing on the right side of midfield, Williams says it is not his usual position but made it clear that he is happy to play anywhere Juergen Klinsmann wants him.
"In Germany, I used to play a little bit more in the center but I also enjoyed being on the right midfield. I will play wherever the coach will let me play," he added.
"I have to get use to them and they have to get used to me. I felt comfortable on the field and it was nice."
