Hoffenheim eager to push through deal for Swansea, Liverpool target Sigurdsson

German club Hoffenheim have granted Gylfi Sigurdsson two weeks of leave so he can try and secure a move to the Premier League.

The Icelandic attacking midfielder, who spent the second part of last season on loan with Swansea City, was believed to be close to finalising a permanent move to the Welsh club before manager Brendan Rodgers left his post to take the job at Liverpool.

It is now suggested that the Reds are favourites to secure his services and while the negotiating goes on, Hoffenheim have allowed him time away from the club to sort his future.

"Gylfi Sigurdsson will not be with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the start of pre-season. He has, after consultation, obtained a prolonged holiday until 30th June," read a statement from the club.

"The club wants the 22-year-old to continue to secure a future in the Premier League."
