England coach Roy Hodgson insists Liverpool striker Andy Carroll will remain part of his squad.
Hodgson admits he would prefer the £35million striker to be playing week in, week out even if that means a move away from Anfield.
He said: "The bottom line is I shall choose from the players who can do the job.
"If they are not playing for their club team, that will be a disadvantage but it won't necessarily preclude them from playing."
