Hodgson warned no knee-jerk signings at West Brom

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has been told there can be no knee-jerk signings this month.

The Mirror says Peace is insisting on guidelines that stipulate players are scouted for several months before Albion cough up.

The Baggies are now more likely than ever to chase long-term targets including Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell, Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner, Cardiff midfielder Peter Whittingham and Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard.
