Hodgson took West Brom job with eye on England post

New West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has taken the job with one eye on the England post.

The Mirror says it is a swift return to the Premier League for the man who was axed by Liverpool last month after only joining in the summer.

But Hodgson has only agreed an 18-month contract at The Hawthorns until June 2012.

By then England are likely to need a new boss with Fabio Capello expected to leave after Euro 2012 following a disastrous World Cup.

Hodgson has already spoken openly of his ambition of managing England one day.
