Hodgson sees Man Utd's Rooney as future England captain

England coach Roy Hodgson sees Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney as a future Three Lions captain.

Current England skipper Steven Gerrard, of Liverpool, will be 36 when Euro2016 comes around and has dropped big hints he will retire from internationals after this summer's World Cup.

"Wayne, I'm sure, is a future captain of England because we are losing some of the famous players of the past who have served the country so well," said Hodgson.

"When the day comes for Steven to hang up his boots, Wayne will be straight in there, I'm sure."
