West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has told chairman Jeremy Peace he needs to increase his transfer budget.
Hodgson says he needs extra spending money to improve the squad this summer.
"We have to be careful - you can't pull rabbits out of hats for ever. Bargains are wonderful, but you can't live on bargains alone.
"If it was purely a case that everyone could live from bargains then there would be no expensive transfers of quality players.
"Jeremy is fully aware of that."
