Hodgson praises West Brom's January signings

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has lauded the impact made by January transfer window signings Keith Andrews and Liam Ridgewell. Ex-Blackburn Rovers midfielder Andrews, who only signed a six-month contract, has responded with two goals in his first two games against Wolves and Sunderland and already indicated he wants a lengthier stay.

Ridgewell made the switch from Birmingham and has impressed with his defensive solidarity but also his attacking runs.

Hodgson said: "Andrews has done well for us and I'm happy he is scoring goals but I knew that him and Ridgewell were good players.

"I suppose I'm a little bit surprised about how easy they've slotted into the team and it's not easy to do at this level.

"But they are experienced players and they've certainly brought that experience and quality to the team."
