West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson wasn't surprised Napoli were keen on Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.

The Brazil international penned a new deal with the Reds yesterday.

"Lucas Pezzini? If (sports director Riccardo) Bigon takes him, he really will make a big hit," said Hodgson on Naples radio yesterday.

"But I do not think that Liverpool would deprive themselves of a player like that, who is vital to the economy of their game."
