Hodgson insists West Brom is for him

West Bromwich Albion savior Roy Hodgson says he is thoroughly enjoying his time with the West Midlands club.

The 63-year old was appointed as the Baggies manager just six weeks after he was sent packing after an unsuccessful spell with Liverpool and he admits he is delighted to have remained in work.

Hodgson has guided West Brom to 10th on the table, seven points clear of the drop zone, and the ex-Fulham boss is happy in his current role.

"I decided against a sabbatical and I'm very happy now I made that decision because I've come to a good club and I'm having some good success," he told Express and Star.

"My wife has been on at me to take a sabbatical for the last five years - a permanent sabbatical. But, right from the start, working at West Brom made me realise I made the right decision.

"It was fun to work with the players from the first day. I am very happy with the receptive nature of the players. It was pretty obvious they wanted to get behind what we're trying to do to get out of the mire.

"Up until now - and we aren't there yet - we have to take our hats off to them and say they are being rewarded for that receptiveness.

"I'm certain there are clouds on the horizon. But, having said that, if you spend your life worrying about the clouds on the horizon and forget the sun is shining you lead a pretty miserable life.

"At the moment, I'm just enjoying the sunshine."
