Hodgson: I played Man City keeper Hart to boost spirits

England coach Roy Hodgson is happy to stick with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as his No1.

Hodgson played Hart for the full 90 minutes in England's 1-0 win against the Danes on Wednesday night.

And he made that decision as a direct result of Hart being left on the bench in City's Capital One Cup Final victory against Sunderland three days earlier.

Hodgson said: "It was important for Joe. He didn't play at the weekend for City and that was a disappointment for him.

"You get to a League Cup final and you don't play and I thought it was important that he played for us.

"He wasn't exactly bombarded but he still made a couple of good saves."
