West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has hailed their scouting network for identifying Youssouf Mulumbu.
The £175,000 snip from Paris Saint Germain this week picked up the WBA Disabled Supporters' Club Player-of-the-Season award last week.
He has been a linchpin in Albion's midfield in his first full Barclays Premier League season and Hodgson has praised the club's scouting staff for capturing him at a bargain price.
"I think Dan Ashworth and his scouting staff have performed wonders," he told the WBA website.
"There are one or two rabbits that have been pulled out of hats by Dan. One can only really congratulate him on that. Dorrans, Odemwingie and Olsson are others to name a few.
"Youssouf has got a lot of attributes and qualities and, in time, if we can stay in the Premier League and he can get more Premier League games under his belt, and continue to work at his game, he can become even better.
"I think he is at a stage where there is still more to take from him.
"I can only hope he is mature enough and sensible enough to realise that it's been a good start for him - coming from France to England - but now he has to work hard to kick on and become an even better player, because I think he's got it in him."
