Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has revealed Damien Duff took a pay-cut to move to Craven Cottage.

Hodgson signed Duff when the Irish international wanted to leave Newcastle.

He said: "He just wanted to play football. It wasn't a question he would earn more at Fulham. It was that he would come and earn less. That is rare.

"If he keeps in shape, I can see him playing for the fun of it when he is 50!"
