West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson was pleased with their hard-fought win at Norwich City.
Peter Odemwingie struck the only goal of the game.
Hodgson felt his team had done it the hard way.
"We were our own worst enemy at times," he said. "We gave the ball away an awful lot in the latter part of the game, especially after missing the penalty.
"As a result, you invite your opponents on, and you hope your back four can stand up and do the job, so I am very proud of that.
"But we made life a lot harder for ourselves than was necessary.
"At 2-0 it would have been a lot quieter last 20 minutes than we got."
Hodgson added: "It is, though, nice to know we do not necessarily crumble in those situations and a fourth game in a row has not seen us concede to take points away."
