England coach Roy Hodgson decided against calling up Ravel Morrison for this week's friendlies after a chat with his West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce.
The Mail on Sunday says after talking to Allardyce, Hodgson agreed it was best for the players development to stay with the U21s.
Allardyce pointed out: "He [Ravel] might have got a bit carried away with things.
"And it would have put the spotlight even more firmly on him when we're trying to do the opposite.
"We want Rav to stay focused and continue his improvement at West Ham. As for England there is plenty of time for him to make his mark."
